We can't help but paint ourselves...

Was just emailing a SCBWI (Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators) buddy, Dana Sullivan, about how as artists we just cannot help but paint ourselves - that got me thinking about this image...

Holy CRAP what a small world this is, Lida. My recipe for salmon salad was just printed in FRESH, Cascade Harvest Coalition's new cookbook. I love your illustrations and I wanted to learn more about you, so I clicked on your name in their recent newsletter. And lookee here, you were just talking about my (amazing, brilliant, incredibly modest) brother, Dana Sullivan. Yay! He's so cool he even did my business logo and business cards, which are truly unique.

Your illustrations are absolutely amazing. They're delicate and sweet and make me want to cook. I thank you a million times for your contribution to the book. And I hope to meet you sometime in the real world! Lesa
